POSITION SUMMARY:

The Spa Therapist administers professional massage, body treatments, facials, waxing, and nail services to our clients. They must have a thorough knowledge of numerous massage modalities, possess a general understanding of body treatments and be willing to learn spa specific massage, body treatment and salon offerings

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide individualized bodywork treatments/ skin treatments that meet the customers’ needs and expectations
  • Obtain the basic medical history for a customer, assesses any problems or conditions, and suggest appropriate therapy based on current health of customer.
  • Have a full knowledge of menu and services offered by the spa
  • Cross sell other services offered both the spa and the hotel
  • Meet set Revenue targets
  • Know where to get information to better assist customers
  • Ensure customers feel welcome when they arrive for their appointments
  • Maintain spa appearance and cleanliness
  • Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the spa’s policies and procedures
  • Stock and maintain treatments rooms, facial rooms, hydrotherapy room , pedicure and manicure area according to standard operating procedures
  • Prepare for customer arrival locker room, treatment area.
  • Promote and up-sell products and services
  • Ensure that a high standard of service is maintained throughout the spa
  • Assists Spa in activities such as staff meetings, promotions, housekeeping duties
  • Assists with folding and storing of all linens used in treatment rooms and locker rooms
  • Arrives fifteen (15) minutes prior to scheduled work time
  • Maintains and increases knowledge of bodywork treatments by attending in-house instruction, and education/training classes
  • Assist in all areas of spa operation as requested by management.
  • Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests in the spa that require attention.
  • Responsible for knowing all Serenity Spa Standard of operating procedure both in the different spa treatments provided.
  • Have a good knowledge of the island culture and history which they can share with the customers e.g. things to do and see that can add to their vacation experience
  • Develop ability to work without constant direct supervision
  • Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment
  • Have knowledge of the different activities offered by the hotel or where to find it so that they can better assist the guest
  • Report all maintenance issues of the spa to manager, supervisor or receptionist ensure it is logged
  • Maintain personal hygiene
  • Have a wide knowledge of the wellness industry not limited only to spa and keep up to date with trends in the wellness industry
  • Respect the customer time and space
  • Preparing for the arrival of the customer prior to the customers arrival
  • Becomes familiar with guest names and acknowledges them by name
  • Personalizes guest interactions and anticipates guest requests whenever possible
  • Attends all departmental meetings as scheduled and briefings
  • Provides information about spa\
  • Knows the location, contents of First Aid Kit and fire extinguisher and the emergency contact
  • Adhere to company standards and policies
  • Performs any other duties as requested by management

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Diploma in Spa therapies

Experience:

  • Maintain appropriate certification.
  • Be proficient in various body work techniques and modalities
